Regarding the Sally Creek Fiasco

First we would like to clarify the fact that at no time did James say that he'd received any threats directly from Cliff Zaluski or Sally Creek. James has maintained from the onslaught that the threats were made by a man, recognizable to Jim and witnesses at the scene, who claimed to be representing Cliff Zaluski and not Cliff Zaluski himself. If Mr. Zaluski is indeed unassociated with these events would it not make more sense for him to be interested in locating the guilty party, who is libeling his name, rather than trying to defend his position against James? 1. The statement made by James simply reflects the opinion that he formed as a result of public threats he received by a man claiming to represent Cliff Zaluski. These threats were made on Dundas St. in front of several witnesses and henceforth reported to the Oxford Community Police who are looking into the matter. 2 & 3. This statement is the logical conclusion to a follow through on the threats made by the assailant who publicly made such threats as "They'll cut off your legs and ram them down fucking your throat." or ""Cliff says "you're a dead man if you show up". (to the next council meeting). The police asked James to report if anything further came of the threats. One would naturally have to assume that if anything came of the threats, James would be missing the afore mentioned appendages and would therefore be forced to drag himself to a phone booth. The "truth" of these statements is such that they were made in front of several witnesses in front of a business beside ours, by a man claiming to represent Cliff Zaluski, in broad daylight with much yelling and screaming. At no point did James "suggest" that Cliff Zaluski made this statement. James has always maintained the the assailant made all of the threats. 4. The man claiming to represent Cliff Zaluski offered James a position with the board of the Sally Creek Golf Club if he would back down. This also took place in front of witnesses. Because James is not a private investigator and does not know who is lying and who is telling the truth, he has enlisted the help of the Oxford Community Police to assist him in getting to the bottom of this. The assailant is someone who is known to and recognizable by James, and once he is located, he will be identified by the witnesses present at the time and we will press charges. Certainly at no point did James claim that this offer was made by Cliff Zaluski himself. James has always maintained that the offer was made by a man claiming to represent Mr. Zaluski. 5. Certainly as a result of these threats, we feel that it is prudent to warn the public of the events that have taken place in order that they can protect themselves against such intimidations. In the interest of public safety, we feel that the source of the threats is less important than the fact that they were made, and no matter who is responsible people should take extra measures to protect themselves. In all I think it's fair to say that in the letter we received from Zaluski's lawyers, words used after each statement such as "implies", or "suggests" can be used to paint any pictures one could conceive, however the fact remains that James has not accused Mr. Zaluski or Sally Creek of anything and therefore there will be no apology forthcoming. Perhaps Mr. Zaluski would be interested in having some papers drafted and ready to be served to the infiltrator who has used his name to threaten James. It's only a matter of time before he will have to answer to the witnesses for whom he performed with such a convincing use of profanity. |
