It is quite obvious that Tillsonburg residents are concerned with their tobacco industry and the fact that the the liberal government has left them in the cold. There do not seem to be any easy answers to the problems facing tobacco farmers from any political stand point. The people in the tobacco belt are angry. We know that a conservative government, being far from socialist, concerns itself more with the Big Business of Canada's Corporate sell out than with the plight of the small farmer. Neither of these choices seem right here. There is no question that the Marijuana Party's solution is to have farmers grow hemp. Hemp can be processed for many different uses including paper, clothing, toiletries such as soaps and hand lotions, furniture and shoe polish, Industrial uses such as concrete filler, insulation and pressboard just to name a few. Hemp also has a greater yield than many other crops used for these purposes. We suggest visiting the The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs for more information.
Concerns about how marijuana addiction relates to health care issues came up. James responded by pointing out that these problems were an issue regardless of the legalization question and that it is not possible for people to receive rehabilitation, if under current laws they could face time in jail and CAS involvement for coming forward. We need to recognize that addicts are not criminals. We need to gain some control over our controlled substances. Alcohol, considered the first gateway drug to many, is controlled in such a way that we regulate and prohibit it's sale to minors. Would you depend on a drug dealer to give your child the same consideration? Prohibition does not work. People will continue to smoke pot. Why shouldn't we regulate who uses it, & set up treatment programs with the multitudes of would be tax dollars available from money already passing through the hands of the dealers? Questions about government integrity surfaced here at this meeting, as they have in every debate. There is a major trust issue, and why shouldn't there be when the Canada Elections Act, itself permits candidates to make promises and simple pledges in writing that they do not have to honor once they are elected. We could promise each one of you that your vote for The marijuana Party would earn you free pizza, chips and beer for life, but we don't have to give it you if we win. VOTERS BE WARE!

Although many interesting questions were asked of the panel, nothing quite got the crowd going like the beating taken by CHP candidate John Markus when he was asked about the passage in the Bible "Leviticus 18:22," from which his party adopts their theory on gay rights. 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Remarkably, this question was also asked by a student of Huron Park at the debate held earlier in the day, although, not with quite the same fever. Taken from the same book is the following passage The passage in Leviticus What the Bible says about Menstruation
When asked, by a very aggravated audience member if he agreed with these ideas, he responded by saying that, that was the old testament. Wow! If that isn't an exercise in contradiction. This guy also mentioned previously that although his party would define life from conception to natural death, he would also support the death penalty. |
