Is Everyone Just Plain Stupid Here?
Alarmed by comments
This is regarding the remarks in the Sentinel-Review about our fellow
Canadians being stupid the way they voted.
I thought this was a free country and we put that bullying to rest 60
years ago. Also, how can it be good for Oxford the way it turned out?
We are on the wrong side provincially and now federally. The next four
years we will just get the bones thrown to us.
We will remember those remarks next election.

Puzzled by comments in election story
Re: The news story on Mr. MacKenzie's Oxford win and the comments
made by one of his supporters, who stated: "It's good for Oxford, but
I didn't think there were that many stupid Canadians. I'm disappointed for
Canada."
Sadly enough, a minority of Oxford supporters voted for this candidate.
Perhaps he won the majority of the vote, but he made it into office on
less than 16,000 votes, which clearly does not represent Oxford and its
views, as we have almost 70000 registered voters here. It is quite obvious
the Conservatives represent less than 25 per cent of our local population,
which means that 75 per cent of Oxford residents are left without
representation, as we did not vote for the supporter's choice. On top of
that we are really stupid to boot.
The Tory supporter must feel totally lost in a society of stupid
people. I've heard it said that people who are abusive to others are
generally of a very low-self opinion - by belittling others they feel
important, as though they are on a pedestal of sorts.
This is the kind of crap politics we have long been accustomed to, the
politics of organized divisiveness and the politics of ignorance and
disrespect. We have long been governed by inept people who routinely stuff
their feet into their mouths.
I would hope that Mr. MacKenzie would offer some type of apology to his
community, as he separates himself from these horrendous comments.
The assault upon the collective intelligence of the electorate is just
the tip of the problem here. This is the politics of hatred and racism, as
directed by the Tory supporter, at all of us here in Oxford and Canada. It
sounds like we've elected the Marxists here.
Recall should be enshrined in the Charter of Rights and should be used
to remove people who have failed their community's expectations and
standards.
Mr. MacKenzie made many promises during his campaign - lower taxes,
accountability, squash the gun registry, transparency in government,
improved infrastructure for health, education and military and much, much
more. He offered up his ideas and now must make good on fighting for them
as a member of the official Opposition. Anything other than that would be
a failure to the electorate and a violation of the promises he made. Mr.
MacKenzie has a duty to fight for everyone in Oxford, not just the few
individuals who supported him this campaign.
Just remember, the majority did not vote for Mr. MacKenzie and he will
have a difficult time representing us, as his opinions are not reflective
of the majority in Oxford.
