Politicians
are oh, so hypocritical

The Woodstock
Sentinel-Review — Given the fact that Ernie Hardeman was a
part of the Mike Harris government that used slash and burn techniques to govern
and ultimately, were responsible for the reduction of provincial welfare
payments, forcing recipients (many of them abused women) into the abject poverty
that they are presently facing , I find it difficult to see him complaining for
more resources for welfare recipients, when he is diametrically opposed to any
increase in assistance to them by way of politics.
Mr. Hardeman could have assisted in preventing this poverty by voting against
the welfare reduction, when he had the opportunity to do so as a sitting member
of the provincial government, under Mike Harris, when he was minister of
agriculture, with his heels in the caucus.
It is a scourge in politics and morals that these guys would, when in power, see
fit to abuse the poorest of Canada’s poor, (by chopping their welfare
payments). But when in opposition, they appear to be the poor’s best friend
--.it’s a real vote getter.
This hypocritical stance is pandemic to politicians; Hardeman is not untouched.
It is disgraceful that our dollars go to these politicians and when the people
need help, the politicians send them packing.
Perhaps Mr. Hardeman should have stood up for the poor when he had the chance to
do so.
It is a disgrace he would even be complaining about the poverty he helped to
